Why Albania, why Elbasan
Albania is young, warm and fast-changing, and Elbasan sits right in the middle of it — an hour from Tirana, surrounded by mountains, with an old castle quarter and a lively student scene. YRCI has worked here since 2017 with schools, municipalities and youth groups, so volunteers step straight into real projects rather than watching from a desk.
Hosting under an ESC Quality LabelAccreditation valid until 2027 — it certifies our standards, not funding.
We follow a written safeguarding policy covering risk assessment, code of conduct, emergency contacts and confidential reporting. Volunteers receive a safety briefing on arrival and know exactly who to contact, day or night. Any concern is taken seriously and handled with the volunteer, never around them.
Young people with fewer opportunities are actively welcome. We adapt tasks, housing and working hours, arrange reinforced mentorship and can request additional inclusion support within the project. Tell us your needs early and we build the placement around them.
